Friday August 1st, 2014 - Game 1

Okay this is going to be quick.

We start off with our adventurers meeting in the town of Heldren. They are brought together by Councilor Ionnia Teppen who is looking for a group of people to go investigate two things.

1)The growing winter weather that has been constantly growing in the border woods
and
2) Lady Argentea's caravan was attacked and a lone survivor has arrived in town. She has been captured and it seems that all her guards and ladies-in-waiting have been killed.

The party went to the Silver Stoat for a bite of food and the chance to get to know each other a little. The following was found out about our intrepid  adventurers...

1) Percy Leyli (Oliver) - A male human archer, who enjoys books and music and such. He grew up in Heldren with his twin sister Pandora (who will join us eventually). He has a troubled past with his father.

2) Beronthor Lasstholil (Tal) - An male elf, who enjoys magic and exploring different aspects of the elements, but mainly fire. He is a long standing friend of Percy from a failed attempt at magic school (on Percy's part). He has a fluffy white bunny named Igneal.

3)Neva Morgannan (Maddy) - A young female human, clothed in winter clothing. She is a winter witch from Irrisen who left her home country to travel around with her friend. She enjoys using ice magic and has a sensitivity to fire.

4)Aisha Veniatay (Kate) - A quiet female human, who simply stated she travels with Neva and likes to heal and can purify food and drink.

Once the party got to know each other a little they decided to find find out any information they could. They did an excellent job at their gather information checks and found out every rumor in town! Woo.

They then headed over to visit with the lone survivor of the attack on the caravan. Yuln told them about the winter-touched creatures that attacked with the bandits. He told them they were Fey creatures who had made a deal with the White Witches. He said that they took Lady Argentea into the forest. He told them cold-iron and fire are the best way to fight these creatures.

They then headed over to speak with Old Mother Theodora. The woman told them many, actually unhelpful things. The only really important piece of advice, they needed some winter clothing.

The party went and bought two sets of winter clothing and then spent the night on the floor of the tavern and in the morning headed out to the attack site.

The party found a devastated site filled with dead bodies and horses. They looted some stuff from one over turned wagon and Neva found that there were noises coming from another one.

They were promptly attacked by 3 zombies.

This is where the game ended.

What you need to be able to play.... a little bit of game homework.

Okay so at the moment it looks like we will be playing Friday. I would like to start at noon and play until 4pm at the latest.

If you are going to be at that game here are a few things I need from you to make it go quickly.

1) Go sign up for an account at the following website

www.roll20.net

This is where we will be playing and if you already have an account that is good.

2) Either have sent me your character concept or a link to a finished character sheet by Thursday night. THIS IS A MUST! I have to put the characters into the program so both you and I have access to your sheet.

3) Test out your microphone. Things don't work so well if we can't voice chat. Please make sure to be on Skype right before we play.

4) Send me your history. It can be as simple as a sentence, or as complicated as you would like to make it. I do however need to see it. As well please make sure you have a reason to be Heldren for the start of the game.

5)Please have read the players guide.

Okay that's it!
Can't wait to play on Friday!

Character Background

Here's a little bit of information from the player's guide highlighted on it's own to help you out with the starting area in our game.
Both Oliver and Claire's characters are from Heldren, and anyone else is able to be from their of have spent time there just let me know. Everyone needs a reason to currently be in Heldren as that is where we are starting.

Also please make sure that you are doing your character back story planning with each other. Claire and Oliver are twins, and Tal knows Oliver from school. How do the rest of you fit in?

Southern Taldor
The Reign of Winter Adventure Path assumes that your
character starts in or around the small village of Heldren
in southern Taldor. This area contains populations of
humans, half lings, half-elves, elves, and gnomes. While
half-orcs are rare, they are not unheard of in this region
and they are not treated much differently from those of
other races. Also, as Taldor is a somewhat tolerant country,
it wouldn’t be unheard of to see aasimars, tief lings, or
other strange and almost otherworldly races.
Heldren is located in southern Taldor near the edge
of the Border Wood. Taldor’s capital of Oppara is almost
200 miles northwest of Heldren, and the closest sizable
city is Zimar—Taldor’s third largest city. This fortified
city on the Jalrune River houses a large number of Taldan
troops ready to defend their borders from the Qadirans to
the south. A small town named Demgazi sits on the other
side of the Border Wood from Heldren.
Heldren is a small village of 171 people, mostly farmers,
herders, and woodcutters. A small armory sits atop a
low hill northwest of the town square, ready to provide
a safe refuge in case the village is attacked. Heldren’s
town hall and its single inn, called the Silver Stoat, are
the two largest buildings in the village, followed by the
sawmill that brings income to the quiet settlement.
Like many small villages, Heldren contains a general
store, a blacksmith, a stable, a butcher shop, a barber, an
apothecary, and a wise woman who sees to the village’s
needs. To provide spiritual guidance to the village, a
small temple stands near the center of town. Though the
place is dedicated to Erastil, its resident cleric tends to the
community regardless of an individual’s particular faith.
The village of Heldren is detailed in the campaign book,
and you can talk to Mrs.G about additional details
regarding the village if your character happens to be from
there. Portions of that article contain spoilers for the
adventure, but Mrs. G might be able to provide you the
information you need without ruining your experience
or showing too much of her hand.
